CISO Director is the first PSITE National Board Member from Region 2

The Philippine Society of Information Technology Educators, the biggest IT organization in the country, recently held their 11th National Convention in Dipolog City, Zamboanga Del Norte on February 26 – 28, 2009. In this convention, five (5) new members of the national board were elected, which includes Mr. Edwin N. Gonzales, the director of the Computing and Information System Office of our University.

Since PSITE’s inception eleven (11) years ago, it is only now that a member from Region 2 is elected in the National Board. Considering that Region 2 delegates comprise only nine (9) members against almost three hundred (300) delegates from different regions in the country, it could have been impossible for Mr. Gonzales to win the election.

Last March 30, 2009, Mr. Gonzales took his oath of office with the other board members in the University of the Philippines Hotel, UP Campus, Diliman, Quezon City. Atty. Julito D. Vitriolo, Officer In-Charge of the Office of the CHED Executive Director acted as the officiating officer. The first board meeting and planning workshop was also conducted on the same date. In this meeting, Mr. Gonzales presented his project proposal entitled: PSITE Member’s Database and Enterprise Content Management System Using Alfresco Labs, an Open Source ECM System. The approval of this project came immediately after the presentation with a unanimous vote from the members of the board and chapter presidents.

This achievement is another manifestation of the professional excellence exhibited by our teachers and administrators. The quest for excellence, a Marian dream, is once again realized.
