Acosta Lectures in Vietnam
By Rhissa Lou M. Salonga

On November 9-20, 2009, Ms. Caroline M. Acosta, the Director of the Center for Alumni Relations and External Affairs of Saint Mary’s University delivered a lecture on Logistics Management to business students at Hoa Sen University (HSU), Ho Chi Minh City, Vietnam.

Prof. Dr. Victor Yu, the Dean of the Faculty of Economics and Commerce of HSU and Mr. Tran Ahn Dung, the Director of the joint international business education program of HSU and the United Business Institute (UBI) of Brussels, Belgium, invited Ms. Acosta to join the league of international visiting professors in the HSU-UBI program for the November 2009 intake period. To date, Ms. Acosta is the first Filipino business professor who delivered a lecture at HSU Vietnam.

The HSU-UBI students belong to one of the elite groups of Vietnamese business education students prepared for the managerial and consultancy profession to multinational companies and international organizations not only in Vietnam and Asia but the world as well. Aside from their mother tongue which is Vietnamese and a high level of proficiency in English, most HSU students are also proficient in French, Mandarin and Niponggo.

Ms. Acosta looks forward to work on the possibility of an initial linkage for faculty, student and academic exchanges between SMU and HSU in the years to come.
