ASUNCION AND SALEM ATTEND 32ND ANNUAL INTERNATIONAL CERTIFICATION INSTITUTE IN NEW YORK

By Dr. Cristina G. Gallato
Dean, School of Business

Dr. Moises Alexander Asuncion, Dean of the School of Education, and Dr. Glenda Salem, Head of Professional Education department, have attended the recently concluded 32nd Annual International Certification Institute in New York from July 13 to 17, 2009. Their existing knowledge about the Teaching-Learning Styles, DDM was confirmed by their wonderful experiences at the Institute especially with the different presentations, sessions and workshops conducted by the various presenters. After completing all the requirements for certification, the two above-mentioned officials of SMU will be joining the roster of International Certified Trainers of the Learning Styles Dunn and Dunn Model.

The attendance, and eventually certification as trainers, of Dr. Asuncion and Dr. Salem to the said Certification Institute was very necessary and important for the objective of adding more certified trainers to the International Center for the Study of Teaching and Learning Styles (ICSTLS) at SMU and in order to reinforce the Center which has only two certified trainers to date. Hopefully, the SMU ICSTLS shall be anchored to the School of Education to make the basic education department a Learning Style School of Excellence. SMU ICSTLS has a permanent status as a Center and is required to report to the International Learning Styles Network (ILSN) Board at least once in two years.
